Blanche Ludwig Ashton1922 ~ 2013Our precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Blanche Maude Ludwig Ashton, valiantly finished her earthly assignment and returned home to her Heavenly Father and loved ones on February 8, 2013 in Cottonwood Heights, UT. She was born on March 21st, 1922 at home in Salt Lake City, Utah to Eugene Robert Charles and Maude Howard Ludwig and was welcomed into the family by three older brothers who adored her. She graduated from East High School prior to attending and working at the University of Utah. Blanche married Dr. Willard Hart Ashton in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on September 17, 1942 following his graduation from Washington State University Veterinary School. As newlyweds, they lived in Pocatello, Idaho where they were blessed with two children, Willard Wayne and Janet. After relocating to Payette, Idaho and establishing the Ashton Veterinary Clinic, two more children, John Ludwig and Ralph Howard were added to the family. Known for her radiant, beautiful smile and charming personality, Blanche was efficient and well organized and loved her work as receptionist, office manager, vet assistant, accountant, and dog walker , as well as wife, mother and cookie baker. Blanche was a devoted and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many stake and ward assignments and in the Boise Temple. Her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ and family was first in her life. Her friendships were many and lasting. Through her positive and energetic legacy, the values of hard work, commitment, determination, loyalty, integrity and frugality will forever be burned in our hearts. She is survived by Willard Wayne Ashton (Debbie), Fruitland, Idaho (currently serving an LDS mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina), Janet Janke (Lane), Cottonwood Heights, UT, and Ralph Howard Ashton (Lillian), Oakley, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren with 2 more expected. Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Willard Hart Ashton, a son, John Ludwig Ashton, a grandson, Ryan Ashton, her parents and three brothers, Clifton, Leslie and Eugene Ludwig. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive in SLC, UT. Funeral services will be held at the Payette 2nd Ward in Payette, ID at 501 South Iowa Avenue at 11:00 am. on Friday February 15, 2013 Friends may visit from 10 to 10:45am prior to the services.
