Obituary: BENCHLUJEAN

LuJean Johnson Walz Bench1924 ~ 2013Lu Jean Johnson Walz Bench passed away on April 12, 2013 at the River Meadows Senior Living in Alpine, Utah at the age of 88.She was born on November 1, 1924 in Rexburg, Idaho to James A. and Ethel Sarah Porter Johnson. The youngest of five daughters she grew up on the family farm in Burton, attended school at Cedar Point, Madison High School and Ricks College.She married John J. Walz on April 10, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. John and Jean were living in Canoga Park, California when John passed away in 1981. She married Gordon S. Bench in 1983. They served missions together in Barcelona, Spain and at the Mexico City Temple. Gordon passed away in 2010.Jean is survived by her children: Susan Mortensen (Robert) of Eagle River, AK, Debra Bentley (Dale) of Spokane, WA. Robert Walz (Michelle) of Provo, UT, Richard Walz of Las Vegas, NV, step-children: Dennis Bench (Aileen) of Clinton, UT and Curt Bench (Pat) of Salt Lake City, UT. Those preceding her in death were her husbands, parents, four sisters, and two step-sons: Al Bench, and Kenny Bench. She has 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Alpine West Stake Center, 370 South Long Drive, Alpine, UT. The viewing will be held from 9:30 10:30 a.m. And funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Alpine City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.warenski.com
