Raymond Alexander Bird1931 ~ 2013Raymond Alexander Bird was born on March 1, 1931 to Reaves Alexander Bird and Birdie Mae Sweat Bird Mair in Park City, UT. After a long, healthy, productive, unselfish and happy life, he passed away in Yuma, AZ (no snow shovels allowed) on April 10, 2013 peacefully after a short and unexpected illness with his loving wife and children at his side. He graduated from Wasatch High School and then served in the Marine Corp. He married Edna Price September 18, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived and raised their family in Murray, UT. He retired from Amoco Oil after 25 years of truck driving. After retirement, Raymond and Edna spent their summers in Heber City, UT and winters in Yuma, AZ where he thrived in providing extraordinary service to others. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in many leadership positions. His energy was endless, he never met a stranger, and his love for family was non-judgmental and unconditional.Raymond is survived by his wife and four children: Kenneth (Cathy) Bird of Farson, WY, Sharlene (Wendell) Coombs of Murray, UT, Annette of Clearfield, UT, Douglas (LeAnn) Bird of West Jordan, UT. 16 grandchildren, 17 1/2 great-grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Also survived by: three sisters, two brothers: Margie Clyde, Tom Bird, Bob Bird, Judy Mair and Gaylynn Mair. Preceded in death by parents, two step-fathers, one sister, two brothers and one great-grandson.Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013 11:00 a.m. at the Heber East Stake Center, 2395 So. Mill Road, Heber City. Viewings for family and friends will be Wednesday night, 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, 9:30 am-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial at Charleston Cemetery.
