Edith Wright SearleJanuary 30, 1921 ~ April 15, 2013Edith Wright Searle, 92 of American Fork, passed away at her home and into the loving arms of her eternal companion April 15, 2013. Born January 30, 1921 in American Fork, Utah. The daughter of Fredrick Earl and Mary Ann Thornton Wright. She married Max Parker Searle December 5, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Max preceded her in death May 8, 2005.Edith brightened the lives of hundreds of children as secretary at Harrington and Greenwood Elementary for 27 years. She loved and appreciated good music. She played the snare drum in the American Fork High School marching band, sang alto in the Alpine Stake Chorus, and accompanied class programs at Greenwood Elementary.She was an accomplished seamstress making beautiful dresses for her daughter, Mary Ann, shirts and coats for the boys. She was also an avid reader as evidenced by her overflowing library.Edith was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many positions including 20 years serving in the young women's program. She served as president as well as the first girl's camp director of the American Fork Third Ward. She also taught in the night Relief Society and Primary.She took great pride in her gardens creating beauty with her roses and many other flowers. Her scrapbooks for her children and grandchildren are amazing. She so enjoyed shopping for "scrapbooking" supplies. Her cats became her beloved companions especially after the death of her husband.Edith was a gracious, lovely lady and made each individual who came to her home welcomed and loved. She listened attentively and gave much appropriate advice. She is survived by her four children: Robert Max Searle (Barbara Ann), Lawrence Wright Searle (Ann), Michael Reed Searle (Linda), and Mary Ann Shawler, 21 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren, 9 great, great grandchildren, and a brother, Fred Thornton Wright. She is preceded in death by her husband; father and mother; brothers Sherman and William Wright; sister, Mary Wright; a granddaughter, Tiffany Searle and a grandson, Max Robert Searle.The family wishes to express gratitude to all those who gave of their time, support and love. We thank Mary Ann for her exceptional, loving care and Applegate Homecare and Hospice for excellent care and kindness.Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork Third Ward, 165 North 350 West. A viewing will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, Am. Fork and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services in the church. Burial in the American Fork Cemetery. Online memories and condolences may be shared at
