Obituary: TRATOS, EDWARD

Edward Tratos1938 ~ 2013Edward Tratos was lovingly surrounded by his children as he bid farewell to this world on April 14, 2012 at his home in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 74.Born on February 1, 1938 in Columbia, UT to Michael and Beda (Johnson) Tratos To simply state that Ed was born then died would by no means give justice to the living he had done in between those two moments.Ed graduated from Carbon High School in Price, UT class of 1956. Ed served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1958, stationed in Darmstadt, Germany. He worked for Mag Corporation as a millwright in Salt Lake City, UT and later for Sam's Town in the engineering departing in Las Vegas, NV. He had a life-long love affair with college football, in particular placing penny ante bets on the University of Utah or any other team that would cover the line for him best. Ed was a character in his own right. He loved to hear and tell jokes in a flavorful manner and had a great fondness for women. He also enjoyed the time he spent with his sons hunting and fishing as well as his time spent golfing. Ed was a strong and proud man who lived life on his terms. He would appreciate it being known that he did not pass away from complications of COPD, but rather as a result of being stubborn, following his own desires rather than Dr order's and living a life to the fullest measure possible. Those of us who know and love him will certainly miss his spunk and straight forward approach to life.He is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Beda, his sister Elizabeth (Tratos) Koppes, brothers George Tratos and Mark, "Bud", Tratos. He is survived by his children Patricia Burdick, Cary Tratos and Todd Tratos all from Salt Lake City, UT. He is also survived by brothers Paul (Terry) Tratos of Pawtucket, R.I., Johnson (Norma) Tratos of Sacramento, CA, Alan (Mary Ellen) Tratos of Loma, CO., as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.Service: The family will hold a memorial service to celebrate Ed's life at a later date.
