Junior B Smith"Bud"Bud was born June 15, 1927, to Clarence Ivory Smith and Gertrude Irene Butler Smith in Murray, Utah. He was the third of 10 children. He passed away at home, April 21, 2013, of natural causes. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, from 1945-1946, on the USS Gen. D.E. Aultman. He graduated from Murray High School in 1947. He married Elaine Leetham in Murray, Utah on Nov. 29, 1947. They were married for 65 years and had 5 children. Dad felt his proudest moments were when their children were born. Dad organized the first Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop in Silverton Colorado. He received many Boy Scout Awards and served in many Scouting positions. After mining for many years Dad started his own custom drilling and blasting company, which he retired from in 1990. One of his passions was traveling with his wife and friends in his motor home. Bud was preceded in death by his son Randy, 3 infant brothers, and 3 sisters, Geraldine, Betty Lou and CIaudia. He is survived by his wife, 2 sisters, Beth and Charlene(Brent), brothers, Sherman (Gwen) and Charles (Arba), children, Terry (Camille), Roger, Paula (Jim Hilton) and Christy Love, 11 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren. We want to thank Bill, his nurse, and First Choice Hospice for their service. Services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 am, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 South, Sandy Utah. Viewings will be held at Sunset Gardens Friday evening, April 26, from 6 pm until 8:00 Pm and on Saturday from 9:45 am until 10:45 am. Interment will be in the Sunset Gardens Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers make a donation to Diabetes or Lung Society. Online condolences: www.larkincares.com
