Victor John Coy1918 2013Victor John Coy, 94, passed away April 19, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born December 7, 1918 in New Haven, Connecticut to John Constantine and Evangeline J. Coy. Victor was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who served a full-time mission in France as a young man and later sang for many years with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He was a proofreader by trade, retiring from both the U.S. Government Printing Office and the Deseret News. Victor's interest in his Bulgarian family history led him to learn the language and travel to Bulgaria many times. He was an enthusiastic part of the local Bulgarian community as well. His generosity to friends and strangers alike was exceptional. Victor was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Henry J. Coy and sister-in-law Jean D. Coy, both of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is survived by nieces Jean (Gordon) Shipley of St. George, Utah and Elaine (Eric) Hutcheson of Chattanooga, Tennessee; four grandnieces; and one grandnephew.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Salt Lake Fourteenth Ward Chapel, 142 West 200 North. Friends may call at the chapel one hour prior to the services for visitation. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City.
