Blaine Kyle Stokes1968 ~ 2013Blaine Kyle Stokes, 44, our beloved son, brother, relative, and friend departed to a better place on Wednesday April 17th, 2013. He was stricken with severe and on-going depression at an early age. Although he faced it with great courage while suffering deeply, he ultimately died from complications related to his mental illness.Blaine was born on July 29th, 1968 in Provo, Utah to Brent Darrell and Colleen Burns Stokes. He graduated from Mountain View High School (Orem, Utah) in 1986. He later attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah majoring in Psychology. He concluded his formal education just a few credit hours short of receiving a Bachelors Degree. The highlight of his education experience was the three years he spent performing and touring the world with the BYU Ballroom Dance Team.Blaine was married in the Salt Lake LDS temple in August, 2002 but was later divorced. His most challenging / fulfilling callings in the LDS church included: two years in the Kentucky Louisville mission where he served as a New Missionary Trainer and a Zone Leader; Elders Quorum President and Instructor; and his favorite teaching five year olds in Primary.Blaine worked in a number of jobs during his employment career but his favorites were: personal care-taker for a retired Army Colonel, Quality Assurance Analyst/Consultant at the LDS Church Office Building in Salt Lake City, and Psychiatric Technician at the University of Utah Psychiatric Unit.Blaine is survived by his parents, Brent and Colleen, his brothers, Bruce and Roger (Shanica), his sisters DeAnn (Sionne Ray) Angilau, Cheryl Smith, and Heather (Archie Ronald) Crozier; 17 nieces and nephews; and 10 uncles and aunts. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Leslie Darrell and Grace Kendrick Stokes, and Alan Cooper and DeLone Bennett Burns; and one uncle Robert Bennett Burns.Funeral Services will be at the Orem Park 4th Ward (50 South 750 West, Orem, Utah immediately behind the Orem Mountain View LDS Seminary) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday April 27th, 2013. Friends and relatives may visit at the Park 4th Ward Church House from 10:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. on the day of the funeral. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery (1520 North 800 East Orem, Utah) following the funeral services.Blaine will be greatly missed by all who knew him and equally so by his favorite cats: Saphira, Hermione, Arwen, and Pico.Donations will be welcomed and appreciated in lieu of flowers.
