Mildred Miller Van den Akker"Mums"Mildred M. Van den Akker, age 87, passed away peacefully April 19, 2013 in Murray, Utah.Mildred was born in Idaho on a cold winter morning. She is the daughter of Raymond Miller and Clarice Stockdale Miller. She attended Granite High School, then later the Nurse Cadet Program and received her R.N. through the LDS Hospital School of Nursing. She worked many years at the L.D.S. Hospital. She met her Eternal Companion, Melvin C. Van den Akker at a nurses' dance; they were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 67 short years together. Mildred had many L.D.S. Church callings. She loved all that was good; to know her was to love her. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Nard and David Miller. She is survived by her loving husband, Mel; daughters, Marie and Celia of Murray; sons, Jed (Carolyn) of Taylorsville, Ted (Ann) of Magna, Ray (Doris) of West Valley City; siblings, Clinton Miller and Verla Jean Farman; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Perpetual Education Fund, or the Missionary Fund.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray 12th Ward Chapel located at 363 E. Vine Street, Murray. The family will receive friends at a visitation Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South; and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Ward.
