CEDAR CITY — Sophomore Marissa Mendenhall went 5-for-5 with six RBI on the day to help the University of Utah softball team sweep a doubleheader from Southern Utah on Wednesday at Kathryn Berg Field. The Utes earned an 11-2 win in five innings during game one, while taking an 11-6 victory in the second game of the day.

Utah (23-24-1) outscored Southern Utah 25-8 between the two games, while Ute hitters combined for 28 hits on the day, compared to 17 for the Thunderbirds. The Utes have now won five of their last six contests.

IDAHO STATE 3, UTAH STATE 2: At Logan, the Aggies (10-38, 4-11 WAC) came up just short against border foe Idaho State, despite outhitting the Bengals 9-3.

BYU WOMEN: At San Diego in the first round of the West Coast Conference Tournament, the No. 6 seed BYU women's tennis team fell to the No. 7 seed Loyola Marymount 4-2.

UTAH MEN: At Ojai, Calif., the 74th-ranked Utes men's tennis team netted a hard-fought 4-3 victory over No. 49 Oregon at the Pac-12 Championships.
