Utah State softball (10-38, 4-11) is set to open a weekend Western Athletic Conference series at UT Arlington on Friday, April 26, with a single game at 4 p.m. MT.
Utah State comes into the weekend having won its second conference series of the season last week against Louisiana Tech. The Aggies are currently sitting seventh in the WAC standing, two games out of the sixth and final conference qualify slot, which is currently held by UTSA.
UT Arlington enters this weekend with a 19-24 overall record to go along with a 3-12 WAC mark. Last weekend, the San Jose State Spartans took all three games against the Mavericks.
Utah State will look to senior pitcher Mandy Harmon, as well as senior infielder Christine Thomsen, who helped power USU past LTU last weekend. Harmon delivered back-to-back complete games and fanned 18 batters in the final two games of the series. Thomsen continues to pack the offensive punch for her squad, as the senior is batting .430 at the plate this season to lead the WAC.
The series with UT Arlington will conclude with a Saturday doubleheader that is set to get started at 2 p.m. MT. Fans can follow all of this week's action on USU's website.
