Shirley Nathleen Conger Stevens1924 ~ 2013Shirley Nathleen Conger Stevens passed away quietly on April 23, 2013 while living at Wentworth on Willow Creek in Sandy, Utah. She was 88 years old. She was born June 10, 1924 in Annis, Idaho. Shirley was the youngest of five children born to William James Conger and Harriet Rosanna Moore. She married Jack Elmer Stevens in 1949 in Seattle, Washington. One son was born to them; Christopher James Stevens who died as a young man in 1986. Her husband, Jack, died in 1988. Shirley is now with her loved ones after a life full of leadership responsibilities and community service.Shirley was a 1949 graduate of Idaho State University. She lived life to the fullest and everyone around her enjoyed her smile and sparkling personality. She has been an executive secretary for the Teamsters Union and editor for their newspaper. For over six years, she monitored a radio talk show for businesses, unions and community services. She served in three areas of the Utah Legislature: The Governor's Commission on Women, Utah Women's Legislative Council, and the Utah Women's Lobby. She volunteered with The Heart Association for over 23 years, and participated in the Cottonwood PTA Presidency and organization. In 1991, Shirley was honored as Woman of the Year by the Gateway League of Business and Professional Women of Salt Lake City, Utah. Being involved in BPW, Shirley held several offices in the Gateway League. Shirley's neighbors loved her and said she was the sparkplug of the neighborhood. She will be missed by her extended family, neighbors and friends.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at the Holladay-Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive. Friends and family may call from 9:00-10:30 a.m., prior to services.
