Lawrence F. Silcox 1936 ~ 2013Tooele, UTOur loving husband and father Larry, died of respiratory complications, "consequently" his heart stopped beating. He was born April 5, 1936 in Murray UT to Farrold "Slim" and Mary Silcox. His father was killed when he was 2 yrs old and he was raised by his step-father Gene Abbott. He grew up in Tooele and graduated in 1954 from THS. He met the love of his life Sherrie Lynn Bird at a facility social. They were married December 28, 1964. They spent many years educating and shaping many life's. We like to believe that the high school was built for him. He was the first class in the high school in the 50's and taught and coached for 32 years. The high school was torn down the year after he retired. He appreciated all the relationships he made along the way. He served his country in the Air Force and later graduated from the U of U with a masters degree. Thus started a life long love of his "Utes". He had many hobbies which he enjoyed with his family and friends; coaching, officiating wrestling, hunting, fishing, camping and following his beloved Utes. After retiring from teaching he served two terms on the Tooele City Council. He is survived by his wife Sherrie Lynn Bird, his children: Becky (Rob) Anderson, Dan, Melanie (Scott) Robins and Steffanie (Josh) Hansen. 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. His beautiful mother in-law Margie Bird. siblings: Richard (Valesi) Abbott, Marilyn (Jim) Almberg, Verna Phillips, Christy (Phil) Sandoval, Sue Frame and Dennis (Merrily) Bird and many nieces and nephews. He was welcomed home by his parents, father in-law Hugh Bird and brother in-law Jerry Frame. Funeral services will be Monday, April 29th at 11:30 a.m. in the 4th/ 14th Ward Chapel, Tooele, UT. Viewing will be held Sunday, April 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tate Mortuary 110 S Main Street, Tooele, UT with a short viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Tooele City Cemetery.Forever and forever in TOOELE. We love you dad!
