KAYSVILLE — Park City’s Megan Glasmann and Davis’ Shea Martinez have been inching closer and closer to setting state records the past two years, and their moment finally came at the Davis Invitational on Saturday.
Glasmann broke the javelin state record by nearly five feet with a toss of 156’03, while Martinez tied the state record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.48. She equaled the time set by Spanish Fork’s Nachelle Stewart in 2008.
The performances by Glasmann and Martinez were two of 21 state-best performances that were turned in Saturday at the elite Davis Invitational.
Twelve state-best performances were recorded on the boys side, with nine on the girls side. The revised list of the top 10 track performances in Utah will be published at DeseretNews.com on Monday.

Sky View senior Brenna Porter and Herriman freshman Kaysha Love didn’t set any state records, but they had fantastic meets nonetheless. Porter won the 100 and 300 hurdles with state-best times, while Love won the 100 and 200 meters with state-best times.
Along with those top performances, Morgan’s Kassie Nagel turned in a state-best throw in the shot put, while Bingham’s Rebecca Sainsbury did the same in the pole vault.
As great as the girls were at the Davis Invite, collectively the boys were just as good, with Davis’ Seth Fortin (100 meters), Alta’s Brandon Smart (200 meters), Davis’ Trevor Leavitt (400 meters) and Weber’s Mitch Mordaunt (300 hurdles) setting state-best marks.
Jordan High’s trio of throwers were outstanding as well, with Christian Shaver recording a state-best throw in the discus and Lavontae Calhoun doing the same in the shot put. Austin Kafentzis won the javelin, but he was several feet shy of equally his state-best throw for a few weeks ago.
Roy’s Anthony Gregory improved increased his season-best in the high jump by five inches, setting a new state-best mark of 6’10, while Woods Cross’ Jacopo Spano came out of no where to win the long jump with a state-best distance of 23’00.25.
