James Curtis HadlockSeptember 24, 1944-April 3, 2013James C. Hadlock was the first child of Curtis and Lillian Hadlock. He was born on the 24th of September 1944 at the Balboa Naval Hospital located in San Diego, San Diego, California. He died 3 April 2013 in Sandy, Utah after battling with Pulmonary Fibrosis for over 8 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many church callings, among which were: Bishopric counselor, High Priest Group Leader, home teacher, Stake Young Men's Presidency, and Cub Master for four years over the most amazing boys. He served a mission for his church from November 1963 to November 1965 in the California Mission. The last six months of his mission were spent as the mission secretary under President Howard B. Anderson and President Phil Jensen. James graduated from Granite High School in May of 1962. He then entered the army and spent the next 7 years in the Army Reserve in the 328th General Hospital Unit. Upon returning from his church mission, he attended Brigham Young University and graduated 29 May 1969 with a B. A. degree in History and English. A week later he married Kathy Munford, on the 7th of June 1969, in the St. George Temple. He spent the next 34 years teaching history in the Jordan School District. During this time, he earned a Master of Education Degree from Westminster College on 26 May 1979. He taught first at Union Junior High, then 3 years at Bingham High and the last 26 years were spent at Hillcrest High School. He enjoyed working with the various athletic programs and loved teaching his students about the U.S. Constitution and the history of the United States.James' parents, Curtis O. Hadlock and Lillian L. Hadlock, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Munford) and their four children: April Kristine Resendez (Mike), Anthony James Hadlock (Angela), Emily Kay Thrap (Brian), and Elder Andrew Warren Hadlock, currently serving in the Texas Dallas Mission. He is also survived by his brothers, John (Joelynn) of Mesa, Arizona, David (Jamie) of Sandy, Utah, Kevin (JoLynn) of St. George, Utah and his sisters Leann (Reed) Bowers of Harrisville, Utah and Julie (Mike) Tracy of Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday, April 7th from 6-8 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 8th at 12:00 PM at the Willow Canyon 6th Ward, 9636 South 1700 East, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will precede the funeral services from 10:30-11:45 AM.
