Obituary: BROWN, CLOYD

Cloyd George Brown1927 ~ 2013Cloyd George Brown departed peacefully from this life April 1, 2013 at the Ogden Veterans' Home. Born December 26, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah as the eighth child of George A. and Julia Evolina Ramsey Brown. He married Mary Afton McNeill September 24, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple, and made Bountiful his home from then on. He grew up in Provo, Utah, and joined the Army along with three friends just after graduation from Provo High School. He served in the Army of Occupation in Japan.Cloyd worked at Hill Air Force Base for 35 years, starting as a mechanic on the flight line, then moved on to his role as a Technical Advisor. He retired in December 1986.He loved serving his family and his church, and was often the person behind the scenes making sure that everything worked out right. He spent 11 years as an Assistant Scoutmaster, and was pleased to see many boys earn the Eagle rank, including his own four sons. He also served as a Stake Beekeeper for many years and served a Temple Attendance mission.As an avid outdoorsman, which he learned an appreciation for from his early days at Maple Dell in Payson Canyon, he was always willing to go on a fishing trip. He spent many of his retirement years traveling the West with Mary.Cloyd was preceded in death by both parents and all of his brothers and sisters, whom he missed dearly. He is survived by wife, Mary, and four sons Gaylen (Kris), Neil (Cheryl), Darryl (Susan) and Craig (Carole), as well as 12 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Bountiful East Stake Center, 600 E. 2150 S., Bountiful, UT. Friends and Family are invited to visit at Russon Brothers Mortuary 295 N Main St, Bountiful, UT, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
