Christine DowdingFeb. 22, 1953 ~ Feb. 25, 2013Christine Dowding, 60, died February 25, 2013, from her long battle with breast cancer. She leaves behind a legacy of dignity, humor, and a library full of books. The world she bettered will forever be learning how to reconcile her absence.She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 22, 1953 to Alma Lynn Dowding and Lena Dean (Talbot) Dowding. She grew up in Atlanta, Georgia building tree forts, swimming, throwing red dirt clods, and reading nearly every book in the Doraville Library. In her high school years, she and her sister spent a lot of time at the Chattahoochee River, sunbathing and listening to music. She was a member of Drill Team, Kappa Club, National Honor Society, and attended LDS Seminary. She graduated from Peachtree High School in 1971. Christine went to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah , and later finished her degree at Central Washington. A lifelong learner, Christy loved going to school and taking classes even after she finished her degree.On December 12, 1998, she married Gary A. Meyers in Selah, WA. He preceded her in death in August 2007. She and Gary shared a passion for cultivating flowers, trees, and floating the Yakima River. She taught and served as Head Librarian at Eisenhower High School for over 12 years. During the past several years, she developed a love for geo-caching, and reached 500 caches last summer, with help from her sister.Christine Dowding is survived by her two children, Brandon Peck and Amy (Matt) Eckley of Seattle; and granddaughter, Isabell (Smelly Belly); her sisters Laura (Mel) Leseberg and Pam Moulton of Utah, her mother Dean Burnett, of Sandy, Utah, and dear friend and former Sister In law, Mardale Little of Toppenish, WA. Preceded in death by her husband, father Lynn Dowding, and brother Jeffrey.
