Leland LeRoy Withers1927-2013Leland LeRoy Withers was born June 26, 1927 in Sandy, Utah to Leland Winter and Violet Hardcastle Withers, the eldest of thirteen children. Roy passed away April 29, 2013 from complications of pneumonia. He married the love of his life LaVerla Marie Dansie June 22, 1048, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had three devoted children Leland LeRoy Jr. (Angelina); Susan Marie (James) Horrocks and Wade Lynn (Carol Jean); six grandchildren; five great grandchildren with one on the way.Roy was a lifetime Dairy Farmer and held the position of President of the Riverton Drainage District, and also 35 year member of the South Jordan Canal Company, presently serving as 1st Vice President. He held positions in the community as 4H and Little League Advisor. Roy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, holding many church callings including Bishop, High Council, High Priest Group Leader, Sunday School President, Clerk, Temple Worker and District Scout Leader.He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, on brother-in-law, two nieces and two nephews.A viewing will be held Thursday evening May 2, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the Riverton 3rd Ward 12998 So. 1300 W. in Riverton.
