Joan Farmer Tuft Hanna1931 ~ 2013Joan Farmer Tuft Hanna was born July 13, 1931 in Logan, Utah, to Melvina Deseret Farmer Tuft, and Frank Birch Tuft. She passed away May 5, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah.Joan grew up in Draper, Utah. She attended the University of Oregon and became a dental hygienist. Later, she graduated from Westminster College and received her degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught elementary school for several years in Jordan School District. She retired from teaching to become the sole owner of a small retail shop called, "The Crystal Sheep Company".She was a lifelong learner and an avid reader. Many of the passions she shared with her children were the beauty of the outdoors, the love of skiing, the arts, sports, driving fast, animals and the diversity of people.Joan's message: "To 'that old gang of mine:' special thanks and love for always being there. I send much love and gratitude to my family, cousins, and to my dear friends."Joan is survived by her dog Fritz; her children: Jacque Hanna Pace-Fivas (Paul), Mark Hanna (Monda), Julia Hanna Jensen (Corey) and Jennifer Hanna; her eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and her siblings: Francine Tuft Peterson (David) and Frank M. Tuft (Kathleen).In lieu of flowers send donations to the Draper Visual Fine Arts Council. In honor of Joan's request, her body was donated to science.A public Celebration of Joan's Life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Day Barn Indoor Pavilion, 12500 S. 1200 E. Draper, on the northwest end of Draper Park.
