Mary Margaret Weekes HorrocksFeb. 19, 1925-May 9, 2013Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on May 9, 2013 at her home with her husband by her side. Mary was born in Shropshire England on Feb. 19, 1925 to Thomas and Dorothy Weekes. She finished school at the age of 14 and took a job as a telephone operator at the age of 16 with the Post Office during WWII where she met the love of her life, Bill Horrocks, who was serving in the military at the time. She left England at the age of 22 to come to America on The Queen Elizabeth to become married and start a new life. They have been married for 66 wonderful years. Mary worked for the Jordan School District as a school lunch cook in the East Midvale Elementary where she retired after 21 years. She loved fishing, knitting, bowling, golfing, sports-especially the Utah Jazz, BYU basketball and watching her family play baseball.She is the mother of 4 children, and survived by her husband, Bill and 3 children; Denise (Wayne) Eggers, Debbie Maestas and Bret William Horrocks; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra and 2 grandsons, Christopher and Nicholis Maestas. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11am in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 10600 S. 1950 East, Sandy, with a viewing at the mortuary Monday, May 13, 2013 from 6-8pm.
