Clifford Harmon Sowards1916 ~ 2013SALT LAKE CITY, UTAHClifford Harmon Sowards passed away peacefully on May 10, 2013 at the age of 96. Clifford was born in Vernal, Utah to Wilbur and Mary Lew Bertha Sowards on June 22, 1916. After he returned home from Hawaii where he served an LDS Mission, he married June Bee in the Salt Lake LDS Temple with President David O. McKay officiating.Clifford graduated from Provo High School and attended Brigham Young University. After moving to Salt Lake City with his family, he founded Great Western Mechanical, which he helmed until he retired in 1981. The company currently is under the management of his son, David.An avid outdoor enthusiast, Clifford eagerly anticipated the advent of fall when hunting season would begin and the marshes would be full of ducks. He is survived by his four sons, David C. (Shari) and Douglas W., Salt Lake City; Steven H. (Mark Katzenberger), San Francisco; and Scott B. (Heidi) San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and sister, Jewell Sowards Bybee. He was predeceased by his wife, June.Friends may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City on Tuesday, May 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery, 4800 East Lawn Drive (650 East) Provo, Utah on Wednesday, May 15 at 11:00 AM.
