Dorothy Dianne Madsen 05/23/1943 ~ 05/09/2013Dianne slipped away after a long fight with cancer. She wouldn't have lived so long without the help of her wonderful husband Ray whom she thanked God for every day. She is survived by him, 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Lori and Kelly (Austin, Keaton) Owen, Russ and Sherryl (Liana) Madsen, Randy and Katrina (Evan, Sage, Avery, Cole) Madsen. She also leaves 1 Aunt and 2 Uncles: Aunt Ruby and Uncle Verne, Uncle Russell Kells. She went back to Kansas, where she was born, every summer to enjoy time with her cousins Karolyn, Donny, Darcy and Kristi Kells and Reese and Vanny Rutledge. As she grew up she became more aquatinted with her Grabast cousins, Judy, Marcy and Ellen. Cousins and family were a big part of her life, she loved spending time with them. She loved music all her life. She started singing in church, small groups and large choirs. She also played the violin in orchestras and quartets until she went to St. Mark's School of Nursing. She won several singing and playing awards and also an award for "Outstanding Nurse". She belonged to Sweet Adelines for several years and enjoyed that immensely. She was an avid reader. She also made scrapbooks for each grandchild and every vacation she took with Ray. Throughout most of her life she was a nurse; she worked as a hospital nurse, a home health nurse and as a proof-reader for medicare agencies. She was active in Southeast Christian Church while her children were growing up and also sang in the choir. Every birthday and Easter was a delight with a beautifully decorated cake. Each one of her kids had a birthday cake decorated with their current interests. She and Ray enjoyed entertaining family for holidays, birthdays and special occasions. We are grateful for the dedicated staff of Community Nursing Service for years of professional and loving care. Services will be held May 16th, 1 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy, Utah. Viewing at 12 PM prior to the services. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
