Lawrence Richard PetersonAugust 7, 1918 ~ May 9, 2013Lawrence Richard Peterson, 94, long-time resident of Las Vegas, passed away in Yerington, NV on May 9, 2013. Dick was born on August 7, 1918 in Ephraim, Utah to Lawrence Ray Peterson and Nancy Ann Lamb. At his father's death, Dick moved with his family to Provo, Utah where he attended Brigham Young University and threw javelin on the track team. During World War II, Dick joined the Air Force, flying B25's over the Pacific and training new pilots. He married Rhoda King in 1942 and had four children. Dick participated in various colorful flying activities throughout the southwest. He was the pilot for Judson Pacific Murphy Steel Corporation when they built the Glen Canyon Dam in Arizona. Dick is survived by: brothers Robert (Roberta) and Don, a sister Mary Teeples (Glen); children Lawrence Richard [Larry] (Janet), Mark King (Linda), Susan Gong (Brian), Gloria Bastian (Gary), and Michael Campbell; and 18 grandchildren. He will be interred in the Ephraim, Utah cemetery on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 2:30.
