COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Maggie HerrNeckar of the Westminster College women’s lacrosse team was named a second team WCLA All-American, the national office announced Thursday.
HerrNeckar is a 5-foot-7 sophomore from Cottonwood Heights, Utah, that was named as one of seven players at the midfield position on the second team. HerrNeckar was second on the Griffins this season with 56 goals, and she added 11 assists to finish the year with 67 points. She put 72 of her 84 total shots on cage while picking up 55 ground balls and taking 52 draw controls.
HerrNeckar becomes the eighth player in Westminster history to be named a WCLA All-American. This was Westminster’s first season as a Division I member of the WCLA, and she is the first DI All-American in school history.
Hayley Bernstein of Colorado State was named as the recipient of the Amtahcha Award as the top player in Division I. The Amtahcha Awards were established in 2012 by a gift from Dr. Larry Feldman, founder of LaxPower.com, to the US Lacrosse Foundation.
