SALT LAKE CITY — The Arizona State Sun Devils received a commitment from a real life undertaker, well for quarterbacks that is, Thursday afternoon.
East’s soon-to-be senior defensive end Korey Rush announced he will sign his national letter of intent to play in Tempe, Ariz., upon graduation.
Rush is an explosive pass rusher who has the ability to play hand-down or drop back in pass coverage. At East, he’s primarily operated from the edge, but because of his size (6-foot-3, 245 pounds) it’s conceivable he could be moved back to linebacker at the next level.
In 2012, Rush finished with 34 tackles and 14.5 sacks, the third-highest total in the state. He recorded a season-high four sacks against Box Elder in the 4A quarterfinals. Through two full seasons with the Leopards, he’s racked up 79 tackles and 19 sacks.
According to Scout.com he also maintained offers from Idaho, Mississippi, Weber State and recently Utah State. His recruitment had increased rapidly this offseason and was expected to heighten.
