Betty Conrad1924 ~ 2013Betty Brunson Conrad, 88, passed away on May 19, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on October 30, 1924, in Fillmore, Utah.She graduated from Millard High school in 1942 as valedictorian of her class, then received a Bachelor's of Arts in Speech and Drama from Utah State and later a Master's Degree from the University of Utah.After graduation from Utah State, she took a teaching position with Granite School District, where she worked until her retirement in 1986. She loved teaching, and her students loved her dearly. In 1985, she was honored as teacher of the year.Her husband, Owen, was disabled in World War ll, and Betty served as Auxiliary Captain with the Disabled American Veterans. She loved to travel, and went on several of the tours offered by the DAV.Betty was active in the LDS church, where she served as a Relief Society teacher. She also did temple work at the Jordan River Temple for ten years.Drama and performing were a passion of hers, and she shared her talents over the years at many of the senior centers and nursing homes in Sandy and Draper.She is survived by her husband, Owen Conrad; daughters, Cathy Marshall (Christopher Meixner) and Collett (Wayne) Flanagan; grandchildren, Cassandra Marshall, Angie Flanagan and Malcolm (Toya-Lyn) Flanagan; four wonderful great-grandsons, Cody, Cayden, Keagan, and Kyson; brother, Rollo Brunson (Lynne Clark).She will be deeply missed and her legacy and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all her knew her.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Corner Canyon 5th Ward, 13006 S. 1480 E., Draper, Utah. Visitations from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah on Wednesday evening and 1 hour prior to the services, at the church.
