Rose Louise (Powers) PetersenJan. 28, 1933 ~ May 21, 2013Rose Louise (Powers) PetersenPassed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 surrounded by family and following a lifetime of notable achievements and services to others. She was born January 28, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA. She spent her childhood years in Salt Lake City, UT, where she graduated from South High School. She graduated from the University of Utah, as a Chi Omega Sorority member, earning her teaching credential. She met her husband, Allan, during her senior year when he noticed that she was the prettiest girl in their science class of one hundred students. They married May 18, 1955 and began their fifty eight years of life together. Amazingly, Louise successfully merged a 30 year physical education teaching career, important church callings, the rearing of nine children, and her husband's multiple career moves into 58 years of life together. In her spare time she earned an advanced degree from Laverne College, Pomona, CA. Meanwhile, in her dealings with family members and friends, she was kind, funny, compassionate, and generous- always eager to help them with their special needs. Louise is survived by her siblings (Richard Powers, brother, Jean Powers Mullen, sister) and loving and devoted family: husband, Allan; sons David (Teri), James (Paula), Michael (Neuci), Christian (Julie), and Joseph and daughters Paige (Scott), Patricia, Brooke (Steve), and Britt; grandchildren, Kirsten Evans (Nick), Douglas, Lindsey Hannay (Scott), John (Alyssa), Amber, Kyle (Allison), Vanessa, Andrew (Kaytlyn), Kayla Coffey (McKay), Nick, Paul (Kaylene), Ryan, Kaitlin, Mark, Paige Nicole, Lauren, Kelly and Ashley; great grandchildren Andrew, Benjamin, Sara Jane, Emmaline, Peter, and Brooklyn Rose. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 1 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel (8267 Deseret Avenue, Fair Oaks). Bishop Ken Allred of the Del Campo Ward will officiate. Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening May 31 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (6335 Sunrise Boulevard, Citrus Heights, 725-2109) and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel prior to the services on Saturday. A special note of thanks and appreciation is due to Maria and Christian Tratta of the Embracing Arms Care Home for their kind and attentive oversight of Louise during the past three years.
