Clair C Swenson1922 ~ 2013Clair C Swenson, 90, was born October 1, 1922, to Nephi Exile Swenson and Emma Amanda Christensen Swenson, in Salem, Utah. He was raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942, was a first lieutenant, and piloted B-17 and B-29 airplanes. Following World War II, he attended Utah State University and attained a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He married Jewell Barney on August 25, 1948, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Initially, they made their home in Vernal, Utah, where he taught at Uintah High School. They later moved to Spanish Fork, Utah, where they raised a family of two daughters and three sons. While living in Spanish Fork, he worked as a draftsman for 35 years at both Geneva Steel and Brigham Young University.Clair had a deep testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ. He served as the first bishop of the Spanish Fork Twelfth Ward. He also served as a temple worker in the Provo LDS Temple and served in numerous leadership positions. Following his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Jewell. He leaves his wife, Jewell, a legacy of children, their spouses, grandchildren (18), and great-grandchildren (31). Surviving children are: Pauline (Brent) Esplin of Cedar City, UT, Regina (Elbert) Dawson, of Martinez, CA, Michael (Linda) Swenson of Idaho Falls, ID, Boyd (Jeanine) Swenson of West Jordan, UT, and Kirk (Sheri) Swenson of Idaho Falls, ID. He was preceded in death by one brother and one granddaughter.Clair passed away May 24, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in the Spanish Trails Ward chapel at 452 W. 550 S. (Spanish Trails Blvd.), Spanish Fork, UT. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, 6-8 p.m., at Walker Funeral Home, (187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork, UT. A visitation will occur prior to the funeral services from 9:45-10:45 a.m., at the church. Interment with Military Rites will follow the funeral services in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.walkerobits.com
