Ziggy Ansah to the Buffalo Bills?

According to Bills GM Buddy Nix, the Detroit Lions approached Buffalo about trading down from the fifth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, but the Bills thought the asking price was a bit too steep.

"You’ve got to give up too much to move up. We had guys that we thought would be there and had our favorite there so we weren’t interested in moving up," Nix told the Bills official website.

According to Lions GM Martin Mayhew, Ansah was the third best player on Detroit's draft board. He declined to name the other two players, although Dion Jordan, a defensive end selected third overall by Miami, seems a likely candidate for one of those spots.

Despite failing to orchestrate a last-minute trade, the Lions have said they are happy with using their pick on Ansah.

“He’s the best player available,” Mayhew told the AP on draft day. “And, he fills a need.”
