Sam William CallasMarch 29, 1929 ~ May 3, 2013Sam William Callas, 84, born March 29th, 1929 died Friday May 3rd, 2013 at the Beehive Homes of Centerville Assisted Living Center in Centerville, Utah following a short battle with cancer.Sam was born in Layton, Utah to the late Gust M. Callas and Lois Forbes. He served in the Navy and Air Force from 1946-1949 where he received an honorable discharge as well as a World War II Victory Medal.Mr. Callas is survived by his daughters Connie Boyde, Cindi Bliss, Karen Hall, and son Sam G. Callas. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Wallace brother Mike Callas, youngest sister, Peggy Warren and twin children William Gust Callas and Cynthia Marie Callas.Sam was a lighthearted and lovable person and was dancing in the hallways of the living center right up to his last day with us. He was a huge Jazz fan and watched most every game. He was a great father and grandfather. Everyone who met him loved and adored him and he will be missed by all.The family will hold a gathering of a "Celebration of Life" in honor of his memory at the Layton Commons Park, located at 437 N. Wasatch Drive in Layton, Utah (South end of the park) on Saturday, May 11th at 1:00. Family and friends are encouraged to join us and help us celebrate.
