O. Marvin Seddon1912 ~ 2013After a long, productive, and happy life, Oliver Marvin Seddon, age 100, passed away at his home on May 3, 2013. The world has lost an amazing man, but heaven couldn't be happier.Marv was born September 5, 1912 in the Union area of Salt Lake City to Samuel Matthew Thompson Seddon & Hattie Mildred Capson. He married the love of his life, Helen Ruth Davidson, on September 18, 1936. They were married for 63 years, until she passed away in December 1999. Together they had two daughters.Marv was a very hard worker. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp., Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Forest Service where he retired as the Salt Lake Shop Superintendent after more than 35 years of service. He enjoyed his job with the Forest Service which allowed him to travel extensively to the forests of the western states. Not only did Marv fight fires, but he had a huge role in building the road along the Snake River from Alpine to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.Marv liked to keep busy. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, and spend hours in his yard. He was on a bowling league and won many trophies. He had a passion for Ford cars and owned as many as 35 new cars in his lifetime, his favorites being his T-bird and Lincoln. He also loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marv was very proud to have made it to 100 years of age and was honored to be part of the Century Club of Utah.Marv's family and friends will always remember him as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who found much joy in providing a secure and happy life for his family. He leaves a wonderful legacy of hard-work, service, dependability, generosity, and love. He will truly be missed. He is survived by daughters Maureen Seddon and Linda (Jeff) Anderson, his grandchildren Erik (Sandra) Anderson, Natalie (Gavin) Harris, and Damon (Alyson) Anderson, and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by three brothers, Lyle, Jack and Lee and two sisters Mildred and Virginia.Thanks to the staff and friends at St. Marks Cardiac Rehab who became his extended family, Rocky Mountain Hospice for their loving care, and Home Instead, especially Diane, who helped him so much in the end.Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holladay-Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive. Friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the same location. Interment Holladay Memorial Park.
