PAYSON — The residence of former Payson Mayor Gordon Taylor was gutted by a fire that broke out about 8:30 p.m. Friday.
The fire affected all levels of the three-story house except for the basement, said Payton Assistant Fire Chief Steve Spencer. Firefighters from three agencies spent about five hours at the house battling the blaze and mopping up, he said.
Taylor lived in the upper levels of the home, while a tenant occupied an apartment in the basement. Neither was home when the fire broke out, Spencer said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he said.
