COLORADO SPRINGS — A two-out RBI double by Matt Long in the eighth inning snapped a 6-6 tie and sent the Salt Lake Bees to an 8-6 win over the Sky Sox in the opening game of a series at Colorado Springs on Monday night.

After the Sky Sox tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, Trent Oeltjen led off the eighth with a double to right field. Two outs later, Long sent a line drive into the right field corner to bring home Oeltjen with the go-ahead run.

Salt Lake would add an insurance run in the ninth on an RBI triple by Kole Calhoun. Ryan Brasier worked a three up, three down bottom of the ninth to earn his sixth save, as the Bees have now won four straight and nine of their last eleven games.

Dane De La Rosa (1-0) surrendered the tying run in the seventh on two walks, a sacrifice and an infield single, but earned the win.

Luis Jimenez led the Bees with four hits and one run batted in, while Oeltjen added three hits, two doubles and a home run, with two RBIs.

Calhoun chipped in with two hits and one RBI, while Tommy Field went 1-for-2 with a three run homer in the third inning that turned a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 lead.
