FRESNO — Billy Buckner tossed seven strong innings to help lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 5-2 over the Fresno Grizzlies on Sunday afternoon.

Buckner (6-2) worked seven innings and allowed just two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Jeremy Berg and Chad Cordero combined for two scoreless innings of relief, with Cordero retiring the last four batters to record his second save of the season.

Salt Lake took a 2-0 lead in the third when Matt Long laid down a bunt single and advanced to third on a ground rule double by Luke Carlin. One out later, Long scored on a single to center by Tommy Field and Carlin came home on a sacrifice fly by Trent Oeltjen.

A sacrifice fly by Long in the fourth gave the Bees a 3-0 lead and they would stretch their lead to 5-0 in the fifth on a two-run homer by Efren Navarro.

Fresno scored their only runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two run blast by Gary Brown.

Field led Salt Lake with two hits and one run batted in, while Carlin added two hits, as the Bees have taken two out of three in Fresno and are 4-3 on their current road trip.
