Dana Meg HendersonMay 10, 1987 ~ June 13, 2013Dana Meg Henderson, 26, passed away June 13th in a motorcycle accident in Austin, Texas where she had been living and working for the last 2 years. Dana was born in Portland Oregon to JaNae and Patrick Henderson.Dana graduated in 2005 from Alta High School in Sandy, Utah where she lived with her family from the age of 3. As a young woman, she did very well in school. She was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the Young Women's program and earned every award available. Dana loved sports and athletics; she was a member of several championship teams. She competed in softball and dance as a child. As a high school honor student, she became a cheerleader, which she continued at Dixie College in St. George Utah. She went on to Utah State University to graduate with a BS in communications. After college Dana worked in Salt Lake City while she prepared to go to law school. While working and living in Salt Lake she discovered a love for the arts and fashion design. She put law school on the back burner and started down a road of self discovery that lead to many great and wonderful adventures in her life.Dana was a spontaneous, confident, and capable woman. She had an infectious personality that made people instantly comfortable. She was able to uplift everyone she came into contact with and that made them love her.In an effort to pursue a goal to live in a different city every 1 - 2 years, Dana moved to Austin Texas. She very quickly made friends from all walks of life. While working as a waitress and loving Texas, she began increasing her efforts to make and design clothing. Without any training or connections she just wore her designs proudly to many events. She quickly gained a following among young women who loved her style and fashion sense. This lead to her doing fashion shows in Texas. Dana loved working in all aspects of design and did free lance interior and fashion design whenever she could. Dana belonged to a close knit and loving family. She is survived by both parents, her grandmother Meg Henderson, her 5 siblings, John (Faylena) Maxim, Paul (Mindy) Henderson, April (Brickmann) Ethington, Joshua Henderson, and Quela (Matthew) Leonhardt, as well as 12 nieces and nephews who adore her. Dana loved her family and her life. She also loved animals, nature, and all people she came into contact with. She had a dog named Karma who went with her everywhere and had another beloved pet Gypsy, a tarantula. Dana made the lives of everyone she came into contact with better. The outpouring of love from those who knew her, some for a very short time, is overwhelming and humbling. Dana was talented in sports, art, math, science, communication, and she would excel at anything she tried. Her potential was unlimited. Rather than dwelling on an amazing life cut short, her family believes that she was so talented she was called along with the best and brightest to a work beyond this life. Dana's positivity will serve her well in the hereafter.A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary (8090 S State Street, Midvale, UT) on Wednesday, June 19th, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 11777 S.
