William R. Young"Bill"William Rupert Young passed away May 25, 2013. Born July 17, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Chrystella and Benjamin Harrison Young. In his early years Bill served in the Air Force and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany where he participated in the Berlin air-lift. He later graduated from Trade Tech as a machinist and went to work for Christensen Diamond Products and later for Crankshaft Grinders. During this time he married Signe Mary Kloogh, deceased in 1986. They had four children twin sons, Edward and Norman; daughter, Sonja; and son, Leslie.Bill had many interests throughout his life, besides being a cat lover he was a bicycle enthusiast and was involved in bike racing from his early years well into his seventies. He won a few Utah State Championships along the way. He had great endurance and strength in the mountains and long distance races. Most of all, Bill had a deep involvement in the restoration of countless rare classic and antique automobiles. He was known far and wide for his knowledge and abilities in the hobby, not to mention the generosity of his time and materials. Bill restored cars for Matt Browning, of the Browning Gun Co. He also restored cars for Eli Williams, of the Salt Flats Garage, as well as some work with Harrah's in Reno to name a few.After he retired in 1996 Bill lived in St. George, Utah. He loved to dance, where he met and soon married Enid Ence. They had a great relationship until her death.He is survived by his four children, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his sister, Sandra Diane Young Funk.
