Richard Edson Holdaway 1928 ~ 2013Richard Edson Holdaway passed away on, June 13, 2013 at Kaiser Hospital, Fontana, CA. He is survived by Jeanne Holdaway, his wife of 62 years, daughters Jennifer Dexter and Julie Baguley, sons Rich Holdaway and Jim Holdaway, 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children. Born May 9, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Dick was the youngest of nine children born to Hugh Holdaway and Pearl Harmer Holdaway. His older siblings were Elvin Holdaway, Inez Boelter, Hugh VonLoy Holdaway, Loren DeMar Holdaway, Ida Ortel Boelter, Laura Elaine Mattingly, George Harmer Holdaway and David Harmer Holdaway. At 16, Dick enlisted in the US Merchant Marine, serving in World War II. Following the war, Dick graduated from the University of Utah. Dick and Jeanne were married June 26, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple, and raised their four children primarily in Upland, CA. In 1961 Dick was hired by Henry J. Kaiser as a Senior Industrial Engineer at Kaiser Steel, later promoted to Manager of Steel Production, Planning Manager and President of Kaiser International Corp. Dick also taught evening courses for 20 years at Chaffey College. Services will be held on Friday, June 21, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9075 Baseline Road, Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Services will be on Saturday, June 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment at Forest Lawn, Glendale.
