Lana Lee Nicholas Willett01/11/1947 ~ 06/14/2013Our Dear Sweet Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and friend to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14th at The Huntsman Cancer Hospital. She fought so long and so hard the cancer that took her from us all. She was our Social Director as well as so many other things and will be missed by each of us forever. She was born and raised in Ogden, Utah and Graduated from Ben Lomond HS in 1965. She was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert L. and Bette Carver Nicholas. She married the love of her life, Joe, in Pensacola, Florida and they were married for 43 years. She leaves behind Joe, her stepson Mark, Brothers, Robert (Rachel), Gary (LeeAnn), Marc (Georgia) and sister Judy (Jeff) and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, as well as Joe's sisters Peggy (Jimmy), Janet (Morris), Martha (Ish) all whom she loved dearly.Lana loved life, loved being with family and friends and was the life of every event. She was loving and giving and always put others above herself. You were always greeted with a big hug and became her friend for life. Her friends were scattered from Utah to Georgia, Florida, Alabama, California and Minnesota. All were praying for her!Lana worked for Federal Civil Service for 39 years. She worked at Hill Field and then took a year hiatus as a Flight Attendant, with Frontier Airlines. Then she began her career with the Social Security Administration in Columbus, Georgia then on to Ogden, UT two offices in South Florida and last to the Murray, Utah office where she worked for 21 years. She retired in 2006 as a Claims Representative with 35 years of service with the Social Security Administration. She has many friends there as well.Lana's passion was golf, vacuuming and keeping her house clean. So don't forget to tiptoe on the carpet!!!!!! She will be remembered by all, but don't be sad for her, Jesus just needed her more than the rest of us, if that is possible. We want to send a special thanks to The Huntsman Cancer Hospital and especially to Dr. Weis and his wonderful staff at Clinic E and all the wonderful nurses and staff at the Infusion Lab where she spent so much of her time during the last two and a half years of her life. She knew everybody by their name and always gave a hug. If you happen to read this, please hug each other for her. So thanks to you all. You do a tremendous job and make everyone feel comfortable. You are all so special. Most of us could not do the important work that you do everyday and you do it with a sincere smile. Also a huge thank you to Dr. Zone, her dermatologist who listened to her when she said she had double vision and referred her to the University Hospital's Dr. Couldwell. That saved her life and gave us two and a half more years with her. So thank you both.Services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah.
