Utah's refugee community shared its rich diversity through music, dance, food and native dress Saturday during the annual World Refugee Day festivities at Liberty Park. The event was held in a Salt Lake City park to encourage greater attendance. One of the highlights of Saturday's event was a ceremony to swear in new American citizens. Retired Utah Jazz player Thurl Bailey, recently appointed state refugee ambassador by Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, was on hand to meet refugees and learn more about their needs. Bailey is an official liaison between the refugee community and state officials.
