Alma "Lee" GraysonApril 6, 1925 ~ June 2, 2013Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Alma Lee Grayson, age 88, passed away on June 2, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lee was born in Cumberland, Maryland on April 6, 1925 to Claude Austin and Mary Elizabeth Elliott Phillips. Lee attended Allegany High School and later graduated from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. During her sophomore year she married her high school sweetheart, Bernard L. Grayson in 1944. After their marriage they both completed college and Bernard was reactivated in the Air Force and relocated to Chanute AFB in Illinois. While in the services they had a wonderful life relocating to Tokyo, Japan, Enid, OK, Izmur, Turkey, Langley AFB, Virginia and their final orders brought them to Ft. Douglas in Salt Lake City in July 1962. Along the way they had five sons: Larry, Tom, Scott, Mike and Terry. Lee was involved in Girl Scouts and the YWCA until her senior year of high school. Her love of sports led her to pursue her BS Degree in Physical Education and Health Sciences. Lee bowled in the Ft. Douglas League and golfed until she was in her 80's. She was a fan of many sports activities having five sons participating in various sports. She enjoyed the Collegiate sports more than the Professional sports. Lee was an active member of Church Women United from 1962, when she arrived in Salt Lake City, until her death. Lee is survived by her husband, Bernard, her five boys and their spouses, 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; she was preceded in death by her only brother, Garland Phillips.Graveside Services for Lee will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East 10600 South. Sandy, Utah. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation in Lee's name.
