Wilma Julia Kooyman McLelland 1920 - 2013Wilma Julia Kooyman McLelland was born on July 18, 1920 to William Daniel and Magdalena VanderDoes Kooyman in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away June 2, 2013, almost making it to 93. Wilma was the 4th of 6 children born to William and Magdalena: in birth order they were Nellie (Louis) Illi, Neil (Suzanne) Kooyman, Norma (Bud) Myrick, Wilma (Don) McLelland, June (Grant) Player, and her only surviving sibling Martha (Loring) Hampton of Riverton, Utah. Wilma grew up, graduated from South High School (1938), and spent a total of 41 years in Sugar House before moving to Fort Union (Midvale), UT. She married Donald McLelland in the Salt Lake Temple Oct 11, 1939. To this Eternal Union were born four daughters: Dawn (Clyde) Martinsen, Marilyn (Leon) Cobbley, Julie Smart Winter, and Shannon Bench, all of Salt Lake County. All four daughters were with her at home and sitting bedside, when she departed to continue her journey into eternity with her husband Don.Wilma was preceded in death by her devoted husband of nearly 74 years. He died on May 10, 2013, just 3 weeks before Wilma left to join him. They left behind 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren with 2 more due in July. We express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Phil Roberts for the extended life due to good health care and to The Avalon Bennion Care Center. Wilma was an active member of the LDS Church and held many callings, but her favorites were the Primary children of the Parley's 2nd Ward and the Young Women of the Ft. Union area. She had the opportunity to serve at the Relief Society Building with her sister Martha, and had many wonderful experiences. She will be remembered for her bright smile, with her own beautiful teeth, and the twinkle in her eyes. She had a great love for her family, especially the children. Mother, hope you know we'll always need you.Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy.
