Obituary: MUELLECK, WALDEMAR

Waldemar Nikolaus MuelleckSept. 12, 1922 ~ June 1, 2013Waldemar Nikolaus Muelleck, 90, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 1, 2013, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He had been struggling for some time with age-related health problems and was lovingly cared for by his wife.He was born on September 12, 1922, in Mannheim, Germany, to Nikolaus and Elisabeth Gelb Muelleck , and was the youngest of four children. He served as a medic in the German Navy during World War II. During this time, he met Dorothea Frahm, who was a nurse aide. Through her influence, he investigated The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He joined the Church in 1946 one week prior to their marriage on November 2, 1946, in Husum, Germany. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1955. He immigrated with his wife and two oldest children to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1953, and has lived here ever since.In Germany, he received training and worked in the pharmaceutical business. After immigrating to America, he earned a degree in accounting. He worked for many years for Wasatch Chemical Company and later at Questar, as an accountant. He valued education and instilled this desire in his children.He was a very faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Gospel meant everything to him. He served in many callings, including clerk, bishoprics, bishop, and High Councilor.He was a wonderful example to his children and posterity and they all love him very much. He had a great work ethic and learned to do remodeling; he remodeled every room in his home. He was dependable and a man of integrity. We are proud to be his family. He will be greatly missed.He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothea, daughter, Renate, and sons, Wolfgang (Julie) and Robert (Annina), 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Rudolf and Hermann, and sister Hermine Koenig. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Noon at the Sugarhouse Ward, 1621 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, Utah, with a viewing at the same location beginning at 11:00 a.m. There will also be a viewing on June 7, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Murray Memorial Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray Utah.
