Donna Frisbey1916 ~ 2013Donna LaPreal Wood Frisbey, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away at age 96 on Monday, June 4, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah.Donna was born on July 30, 1916 in Huntsville, Utah to Charlotte Durrant and Fredrick W. Wood. Donna grew up in Huntsville and graduated from Weber County High School in 1934. She went on and attended Weber College and graduated in 1936.Donna married Richmond G.W. Frisbey on May 6, 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 22, 1977. Their children are Carol Lynn Smith, Susann Mercer (John), Jerry Frisbey (Nona), and Bonnie Kulas. Donna began her working career as a cosmetician with her first job at Payless Drug Store in Ogden, Utah. She also worked at Walgreen's and ZCMI. Later, she returned to work at Auerbach's department store where she stayed for 25 years and made many wonderful relationships.Donna loved music and has enjoyed it all of her life. She participated in numerous musical groups and felt that music lifts the spirit. Donna also loved to travel. She and her loving husband Dick traveled extensively in and out of the country. A few of her favorite places they visited were Paris and Hawaii. She enjoyed many associations with friends through club activities, some of which included: Ladies Literary Club, General Federation of Women's Clubs, Utah Daughter's of Pioneers, and the American Business Women's Association where she served as president in 1978-1979 and was awarded the "1978 Woman of the Year" by the Salt Lake Charter Chapter.Donna loved life. She loved the beauty of the earth and enjoyed spending time in her garden. She always encouraged her family and friends to be happy and to get the most out of life. She and Dick had an open door to friends and loved ones, and never left anyone unnoticed. Donna was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various positions. She and Dick did extensive temple work together. Donna is survived by her three children, Susann, Jerry, and Bonnie, her eleven grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Worlton, her sisters Norma and Verona, her husband, her daughter Carol, and her granddaughter Denise. Services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Larkin Sunset Lawn (2350 E. 1300 S. Salt Lake City) at 2:00 PM. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral services from 1:00 to 1:45 PM. Mom and Grandma, you've been a perfect example to all of us and your legacy lives on. We love you very much and will miss you dearly.
