PROVO — Police arrested a 38-year-old man Saturday after it was reported that he inappropriately touched two teenage girls at the Provo Recreation Center.
Investigators responded to the center, 320 W. 500 North, around 5 p.m. after a 13-year-old girl told a lifeguard that a man had approached her in the pool and touched her inappropriately, Provo Police Lt. Mathew Siufanua said. The girl pointed out James Harrison, who was interviewed by police before being booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of sexual battery.
Siufanua said a second victim, also a 13-year-old girl, also contacted police Saturday and said the same individual had touched her inappropriately as well. Police believe the man may have additional victims and are asking that anyone who may have had contact with the man call police at 801-852-6210.
"Generally, predators move and do this repeatedly, and so there could be other cases that we don't know about," Siufanua said. "He was in a pool during the middle of the day with lots of people, so that's why we believe there could be other individuals that may have been victimized."
Police said the man's recreation center pass was revoked Saturday but still reminded parents and children to be watchful of strangers. Siufanua said this teenager was right to immediately report what allegedly happened.
