Darlene Dougherty Fishler1931-2013My dear wife Darlene died June 5, 2013 at our homewe were married for over 62 years, after a diagnosis of liver cancer.Darlene Dougherty was born on October 25, 1931, in Standardville, Utah, to Sarah Elizabeth Turnbull and Andrew (Andy) McNeil Dougherty. She was brought up in communities having a diversity of people who were proud of their heritages. During the Korean War, she met and married a dashing young Navy man named Stan Fishler. After their marriage they lived in Cambridge, MA; New Haven, CN; Atlanta, GA; Savannah, GA; Fort Worth, TX; Portland, OR; Reno, NV and finally, Salt Lake City. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as president of several auxiliaries and in many other positions. She worked as a volunteer in the communities she lived in, making close friends in every community.She is survived by her husband, Stanley A. Fishler; her four children: Valerie Fishler, Kevin M. Fishler, Andrea Fishler White (David), Stacy Fishler Buchanan (Robert); 7 grandchildren: Isaac, Adam (Kristen), Taylor (Dillon), Matthew, Zachary, Jacob, and Lucas; 5 great-grandchildren: Elijah, Memphis, Adilynn, Scarlett, Deacon; and her siblings: Mary Dougherty Cox (Ray); Mike Dougherty (Irene); Carla Dougherty Tucker (Lyle); June Dougherty Pay (Tim). She was preceded in death by her son, Geoffrey Guy Fishler and granddaughter Melanie Stout.Funeral Services will be Monday, June 10, 2013 at the 20th Ward, Monument Park North Stake, 2796 East Crestview Drive, SLC, UT. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m, s ervices at 11:00 a.m., with interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
