Vard White1947 ~ 2013Nephi, UTIvol Vard White, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, neighbor and peacemaker, lost his battle with Melanoma cancer on June 6 in the arms of his soul mate, Diane Ludlow, and their two sons, Shawn (Sonya) White, Kevin (Vikki) White and their 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Vard was born January 15, 1947, in Richfield, Utah to Ivol Shannon White and Eugenia Erickson White. He grew up in Monroe and moved to Nephi with his family when he was 12. Vard graduated from Juab High School and married Diane Ludlow. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they started Vard's Drive-in and operated it for 27 years. During that time he actively served the community as an officer in local and state Jaycee's, as a member of the Lions Club, a Nephi City Councilman, Nephi City Fire Chief and State Fire Board. He loved the youth and coached little league football and little league baseball. He started, sponsored and pitched for the Nephi Fats Softball Team (a bunch of fat guys and Aaron). He spent 25 years working as a custodian for the Juab School District. For over 23 years, Vard owned and operated White Brother's Trailer Sales with two of his brothers. Vard was an active member of the LDS Church.Vard was preceded in death by his parents, son, Christopher, and his brother, Steven. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, sons, daughter-in-laws, grandchildren, sister, Marcile Gilley, brothers, Shannon (Gayle), Ladd (Jesse), Hap (Bonnie), Steven (deceased), Fred (Sue) and Keith and Bev Fullmer.The family is very grateful and would like to thank Dr. Hung Khong and all his staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, Julieanne Parkin and Janna Bryan of Central Valley Health Care and to their many family and friends.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 11 at the Nephi Stake Center, 351 North 100 West, Nephi, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held an hour beforehand and the night before at Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be at the Vine Bluff Cemetery.
