Gloria Jean Parker HoltJan. 13, 1940 ~ July 29, 2013WEST VALLEY CITY, UTOur beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend returned to her heavenly home on July 29, 2013 after a valiant battle with Cholangiocarcinoma. Gloria was born in Montpelier Idaho on January 13, 1940 to Marshall and Nell Bateman. She married her first true love Oscar "Eudell" Parker on August 12, 1958 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were married for 16 years when Eudell was unexpectedly taken from his family. In 1979 she began her career as an executive secretary at Hercules Aerospace where she met her second love, Gayle LeRoy Holt. They were married on June 4, 1982 and have enjoyed 31 wonderful years together. Gloria loved to travel and cruise with her sweetheart. She was able to visit every place she wanted to see including Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, shopping with her sisters, late night card games with family, collecting tea pots and matchbooks, gardening, and watching reruns of Dr. Quinn Medicine Women. She was an avid reader and received the 6th Century Award from GFWC Murray Women's Civic Guild for reading and reporting on 100 books. In addition, she was a member of the Red Hat's Delightful Dames and looked forward to the many activities they planned. Preceded in death by her first love, Oscar Eudell Parker, her parents Marshall and Nell Bateman, son Jack Holt and grandson Chad Holt. Survived by her sweetheart Gayle Holt, children: Dirk (Karin) Parker, Tiffany (Mark) Allen, Angela Anderson, Lynn (Sue) Holt, Douglas (Cheryl) Holt, Janet Layton, 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A special thanks to her best friend since childhood Susie Elliott and Harmony Hospice team members Laura Harmur R.N., Shannon Browning, Diane Goodfellow, and Tammy McCall for your dedication and tenderness in caring for Gloria. There will be a viewing on Friday August 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Memorial, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday August 3 at the Hunter 27th Ward chapel, 4980 West 3265 South. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be on Monday August 5 at the Paris Idaho Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to the interment at 11 a.m. at the Paris Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation or the Huntsman-Intermountain Cancer Center.
