John Uhira Roberts1931 ~ 2013Today we mourn the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.John was born on June 26, 1931 in Lynch, KY to John Uhira Roberts, Sr. and Grace L. Tiger. His family moved to Utah in 1936 where he remained for the duration of his life. He attended South High where he played football. He then joined the US Marine Corps in 1951 and served in the Korean War. He met Betty Jean Clissold in junior high school and later married her on April 5, 1951. They raised six children and were married for 62 years.John worked hard to provide for his family. He had various careers ranging from driving cross-country for Continental Trailways Bus to operating heavy equipment. He was known by his family as a "jack of all trades" and could fix anything. He spent many hours puttering in his garage rebuilding vehicles, motors or anything else that needed repair. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish and always had a good story to tell. He especially loved to spend time in Duchesne, Utah with his family and many friends.He is survived by his wife, Betty; six children, Bonnie Hedman (Steve), Taylorsville; Susan Hedman (Mark), Herriman; Linda Hartson (Mike), Herriman; Diane Miller (Dennis), Duchesne; Steve Roberts (Miriam), Duchesne; Jerry Roberts (Mary), West Jordan. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, with one on the way in November. He is also survived by his siblings, Joan Clark, California; and Judy Osterloh (Kent), Oakley. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Roberts.Private family services will be held. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park. www.goffmortuary.com
