R.C. (Rawland) NelsonHappy Trails!R.C. Nelson peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on August 09, 2013.R.C. was born on July 06, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Wallace and Mabel Nelson. He graduated from Lane Tech High School in Chicago. He served in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant. He met Dot in Tucson, Arizona and they were married on April 12, 1952. They moved to Utah in 1953. R.C. worked as a Special Service Foreman for Mountain Bell for 34 years. He loved to tell stories of his time as a telephone man. R.C. was a member of the Methodist Church and Canyon Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason.R.C. enjoyed coffee with the Sunshine Boys, camping with the Rolling Phones Family Campers and loved the Bloomer Cousins reunion. He was the quintessential neighbor who practiced The Golden Rule. "Safety First" was his motto. He wore his many hats with pride, took a lot a joy in sending post cards to his grandkids, and was a master handyman.He is survived by his wife Dot, his brother Wally (Alice) and his children Cherie (Mario) and Rawl (Shelly), 6 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. The family would like to give a grateful thanks to Inspiration Hospice for their extraordinary help, particularly Franki, Cheryle, amazing Lucas, and Ollie and the two Haven Megans.In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.A celebration of R.C's life will be held Thursday, August 15th from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.
