Russell Joseph Gallegos"Beloved Father and Grandfather"Russell Joseph Gallegos was born October 21, 1930 in Bingham Canyon, Utah, to Antonio and Ana-Maria Gallegos. Russ passed away August 11, 2013. He grew up in Murray, Utah, one of 16 brothers and sisters. Russ graduated from Murray High School, joined the Navy, saw the world, and by saving his money was able to attend the U of U graduating in accounting and becoming a Certified Public Accountant. He worked for Sperry Rand and the international CPA firm, Peat Marwick & Mitchell. He then became the financial controller and treasurer for the Deseret News Publishing Company for 37 years. He and his wife served an LDS mission from 2006-2007.Russ married Renee Gun-Britt Karlsson of Goteborg, Sweden March 10, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children: Corrina Syd Moore (Brad), Jerome (Janet), Jessica Elise (deceased) and Stephen Wesley (deceased). Russ is survived by his wife; two children; sisters, Bertha Allen and Violet Wilson; 5 grandchildren, Mandy, Christopher, Anthony, Jaron and Jakob; and 5 great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Murray City Cemetery, 5600 So. Vine Street. Viewings will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So.
